Jimmy Gilligan

Jimmy Gilligan grew up in Stevenage and attended Longmeadow Junior School and the Barnwell School. His early football was played with Longmeadow Athletic and his school teams. He played for Hertfordshire Schools and went on to play for England at U/18 level. He was signed by Watford as a striker and played for them in the Premier League and in the European Cup scoring Watford's first ever goal in European competition. He remained a professional footballer from 1981 until 1991 when he joined the Watford Youth Development scheme.
Jimmy moved into football coaching and management with Nottingham Forest, Wimbledon and Milton Keynes Dons and as a talent identification scout for the FA England U/21 team. In April 2010 Jimmy begins a three year contract as Senior Technical Coach at the Kwara Football Academy in Nigeria.
