I began my sports career when I became goalkeeper at Broom Barnes junior school at the age of five and the very thought of diving for the ball when making a save left its legacy, as I moved on to Bedwell Secondary Modern which has now changed its name to Marriotts I quickly found an interest in schools swimming and diving and went on to win a number of schools division ten competitions in both swimming and diving. It was at the age of twelve that I met Derek Beaumont at the local swimming pool and joined the diving club.
This meeting would go on to shape my life as in 1973 I was picked to represent England at the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch New Zealand and this would be the first of many international appointments. In 1980 I retired after having competed in 2 Commonwealth, 3 World Championships and 2 Olympic Games. I am currently employed by British Diving as one of the National Coaches and at present we are preparing the synchronized diving teams for Beijing and London 2012 Olympics. Through my many years of involvement in sport I have also secured a position as commentator with Euro sports and was privileged to be part of the Olympic Commentary team at the Athens Olympics Games.
